Sometime back in late spring or early summer of 2001, Carolyn Ann
Turner, or CAT as she is more often referred too; was living and working
in Omaha, NB when she decided to throw a little party with some of her
friends. Now as I understand it, she met a lot of girls living in
the Plaines states area, but she wasn't just thinking of just the local
girls attending. Anyone that knows CAT, also knows that she thinks
outside of the box. In her travels around this country she had met
a lot of girls and wanted to do something special. So, in late
July of that year she invited some her friends living around the country to
come join the party. The official title of this first get together
was called
"The
Plains Belles Social." However, because many
that attended had to travel, even within the plains states; it
soon became known as "The
Traveling T-Girls Summertime Road Party." That
first year we traveled to Omaha, then to Kansas City, and then back to
Omaha. Now the following year, CAT was living in Atlanta so once again
the word was put out that in late July we would have another road party,
this time we would travel a little further. Starting off in
Atlanta, we drove to Nashville where we began the Second
Annual Traveling T-Girls Summertime Road Party.
After a night of fun in Nashville, many of us returned to Atlanta
to finish the weekend. Sometime in early January of 2003, CAT once
again packed up and left Atlanta, this time headed for of all places Las
Vegas, NV. Not long after her move, she began planning the next
road party and of course there was only one place to start, and that was
in her new hometown, the place that is often referred to as "Sin
City." So, the
Third
Annual Traveling T-Girls Summertime Road Party was set
for Las Vegas. Regardless of what it is sometimes called, or whether you
like it Vegas, I for one thinks Las Vegas is definitely a great place to
have fun. The following year CAT had moved to Padre Island, Texas
and so the Fourth
Annual Traveling T-Girls Summertime Road Party was held
in Austin and Houston, Texas. Sometime Friday morning we drove
from Houston were we all met to Austin, then spent the evening touring
downtown Austin. Then Saturday morning we drove back to Houston,
for dinner and an evening at several local clubs. The Following
year once again CAT
was on the move, this time returning to her home state of Florida and so
the Fifth Annual Traveling T-Girls Summertime Road Party was planned for Florida. This year was slightly different as we
stayed in one city, Pensacola, however those of us that attended did
travel so it remained a road party for most of us. I should point
out that these road parties are not two or three days of workshops and
seminars. There may be some planned events, but what these road parties
really are is an
opportunity for girls, and in some cases their Significant Others to meet with others
and share their life experiences. An opportunity to socialize; and
have as much fun as they want. On the next few pages I have
tried to capture in photos what a road party is like. I hope that
you enjoy the photos, and maybe you can join us for the next road party!
